ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to develop, operate and maintain data analytics applications on a cloud-based big data platform in the energy and utilities sector. This role combines data engineering, cloud delivery, data processing, exploratory analysis and production support in a collaborative technical environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop end-to-end data processing and analytics features on a cloud-based big data platform.
- Participate in architecture discussions and define data flows, data processes and implementation approaches.
- Create proofs of concept, prototypes and production-ready data solutions.
- Build, test, deploy and monitor solutions across development, quality and production environments.
- Operate, debug and maintain data applications and pipelines after deployment.
- Analyze and structure raw data to support business and technical use cases.
- Build data systems, pipelines and algorithms to support analytics and data science activities.
- Support data extractions, exploratory analysis and interpretation of trends and patterns.
- Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling.
- Document created features, processes and technical decisions.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Up to 10 years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering or data-oriented application development.
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong experience with Python and SQL for data manipulation, processing and analysis.
- Experience developing, debugging, testing and maintaining applications in production or near-production environments.
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively while collaborating effectively with global teams.
- Critical analysis, problem-solving ability and commitment to delivery quality.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Interest in data science and continuous learning in data-driven technologies.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Python for data manipulation and processing.
- SQL.
- Big data platforms in cloud environments.
- AWS cloud services.
- Data pipelines, data systems and data processing workflows.
- Programming, debugging, testing and production support.
- Data extraction and exploratory data analysis.
- Predictive and prescriptive modeling data preparation.
- Agile methodologies.
- Jira and Confluence.
NICE TO HAVE
- AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Athena, EC2, Glue, CDK, CloudFormation, Step Functions, Batch or Fargate.
- Spark or PySpark.
- Git.
- Jupyter notebooks.
- Experience developing applications or working in production environments.
- Knowledge of the energy and utilities sector.
- Awareness of GDPR principles.
- Professional working proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish.
COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY
Base salary range: EUR 20 000 - EUR 40 000 gross/year
Total compensation: up to EUR 55 000/year
The salary range is based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including required competencies, professional experience, level of responsibility and role requirements. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate's profile and position requirements.
