Join our team as a Senior / Lead Data Engineer (Hybrid – Lisbon)!

What You’ll Do:

• Design, build, and optimize end-to-end data architectures, including ingestion, modeling, storage, and orchestration (e.g., Medallion patterns)
• Work on cloud-native data engineering projects, primarily using Microsoft technologies (Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse) while remaining open to other cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud)
• Develop and maintain data warehouse and data lake solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Azure Data Lake, Delta Lake, Amazon Redshift)
• Implement data pipelines and storage solutions optimized for performance, cost, and reliability
• Write clean, scalable code in Python (with data libraries such as Pandas, Boto3), SQL, or Spark
• Manage RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, ElasticSearch, GBQ)
• Apply DevOps / DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated validation, data lineage, documentation, and monitoring at scale
• Mentor and guide mid/junior engineers, enforce standards, and foster a collaborative technical culture
• Translate complex technical decisions into clear explanations for non-technical stakeholders
• Break down ambiguous, complex problems into actionable steps and drive them to resolution

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-native solutions and data architecture
• Hands-on experience with end-to-end data pipelines, warehousing, lakes, orchestration, and programming (Python, SQL, Spark)
• Strong understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Fabric/Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
• Knowledge of DevOps/DataOps practices, including CI/CD, monitoring, validation, and documentation
• Proven ability to optimize pipelines and storage for performance, cost, and reliability
• English proficiency (minimum B2)
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mentality, and ability to drive long-term platform evolution
