Firewall analyst - algosec specialist

We are seeking a skilled and passionate mid-to-senior Firewall Analyst to join our team in Porto. The Firewall Analyst is responsible for managing firewall change requests and ensuring compliance with security policies. The role focuses on the change management process, leveraging AlgoSec Security Suite to analyze, optimize, and implement firewall rules. The candidate will also contribute to network security operations, supporting firewall policies across a large-scale infrastructure and ensuring secure access and data protection.

You will champion a security-first culture, participate in initiatives that protect client platforms and data, reduce risk exposure, strengthen defenses, and continuously improve the client's overall security posture.

Responsibilities include:

• Operational Tasks (80%):
• Manage firewall change requests using AlgoSec Security Suite
• Analyze and understand firewall policies to ensure compliance and optimization
• Plan and implement firewall rule changes, including NAT and security rules
• Manage firewall policies across 150+ firewalls
• Support and troubleshoot firewall policies and related issues
• Monitor and manage logs for on-premises and cloud environments
• Project-Based Tasks (20%):
• Automate firewall rule cleaning and recertification using AlgoSec Security Suite API
• Optimize naming conventions and improve firewall policy management processes
• Utilize AlgoSec AppViz for enhanced application visibility and reporting
• Merge Check Point databases and optimize firewall naming conventions

Qualifications include:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines
• 5 to 10 years of experience in firewall management and change management processes
• Strong knowledge of AlgoSec Security Suite, including AppViz and API functionalities. Experience with similar technologies are also valuable
• Proficiency in analyzing and understanding firewall policies
• Advanced expertise in Palo Alto (including Prisma Access) and Check Point technologies
• Proficiency in configuring and supporting network security infrastructure (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Panorama)
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching technologies (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, VRF, MPLS, GRE, IPSEC)
• Excellent understanding of TCP/IP protocols, DNS (Infoblox), and QoS
• Basic knowledge of Azure Cloud environments
• Ability to develop Python scripts for network automation
• Fluent in English (French and/or Dutch is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications include:

• AlgoSec Certified Professional (ACP)
• Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
• Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE)
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent
• ITIL Certification (preferred for change management processes)
• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or equivalent cloud certifications
