Senior dba engineer

This is a remote position.

We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our team and help evolve database platforms into reliability-first, self-service-oriented systems.

In this role, you will be embedded in a sprint-based DBA squad, focusing on database reliability, lifecycle management, and automation. You will play a key role in transforming traditional DBA practices into modern engineering-driven approaches, emphasizing recoverability, observability, and platform scalability.

The role combines database administration, reliability engineering, and automation, with a strong focus on operational excellence and cloud-based database platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Own database reliability outcomes, including:
• Design and implement data loss recovery procedures:
• Lead database lifecycle management activities:
• Improve observability and incident management:
• Implement secure-by-default database patterns:
• Build self-service capabilities to reduce operational overhead
• Collaborate with internal teams to promote DBA and DBRE best practices

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in DBA / Database Reliability Engineering roles
• Strong expertise in: PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
• Proven hands-on experience with: AWS RDS / Aurora
• Experience executing database restores and recovery under pressure
• Strong background in database lifecycle automation:
• Experience working in agile environments:
• Automation-first mindset
• Strong understanding of database reliability and performance principles

Nice-to-have

• Experience with: Kubernetes / Amazon EKS
• Experience helping transition traditional DBA teams into DBRE models
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Experience working in platform or infrastructure teams
