Customs Clearance Assistant

We are seeking a meticulous Customs Clearance Assistant to join a logistics team in the business services industry.

This role is based in Porto and requires expertise in customs clearance processes and related documentation.

Description

- Analyse documents, verify compliance and relevance of documentation

- Research appropriate customs classification for the goods and code them according to customs codes

- Determine the appropriate customs regime

- Identify, based on the goods and determined code, the required documents for customs authorities

- Verify and implement regulations and standards related to the import/export of the concerned goods

- Determine applicable customs duties and taxes and prepare transit documents

- Input customs declaration into the IT system

- Communicate with the relevant department

- Monitor the inspection process and inform the concerned parties in case of non-compliance

- Apply internal procedures aimed at operational and financial improvement of file processing and client satisfaction

- Record issues to help initiate corrective and preventive actions

- Understand and apply the company's environmental policy in compliance with ISO 14001 certification requirements

- Advise and assist teams in formulating non-conformities and preventive actions

Profile

- Basic knowledge of customs clearance procedures, legislation, and customs techniques

- Basic knowledge of customs law, tax procedures, and general law

- Understanding of rules relating to origin, value, and tariff classification

- Knowledge of INCOTERMS

- Proficiency in IT tools such as Conex

- General knowledge of air, sea, road, and/or multimodal transport techniques

- Operational English and French proficiency

- Strong organisational skills

- Procedural rigor

- Good time management

- Ease with computer tools
