Portuguese tech company Closer Consulting is set to launch a new AI research and development hub in the first half of the year. The initiative, in partnership with Nova SBE and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, will have locations in Lisbon, Porto, and Braga.
The goal is to have 300 professionals within three years, including existing employees, recent graduates, PhD students, and experienced hires. The hub will emphasize strong academic collaboration and receive support from European funds, with backing from the Ministry of Economy and AICEP.
In parallel, Closer Consulting is launching the 11th edition of its Data Academy in April, an intensive six-week training program for young talent, particularly graduates in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Engineering. The program boasts near 100% integration into the company’s workforce.
With 350 employees and operations in Portugal, Brazil, and the UK, Closer Consulting is now part of the French group Smart4Engineering.
