Vodafone Portugal completed 71 technology pilot projects alongside local partners. The initiatives ran under three Test Beds and a Mobilizing Agenda funded by Europe's Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Boost Lab Results
The Vodafone Boost Lab consortium included Capgemini and Ericsson. The group delivered 61 completed projects, beating its contracted target of 59.
Startups used Vodafone’s 5G network to test:
- Real-time environmental monitoring tools.
- Cybersecurity protocols designed for post-quantum risks.
- Operational safety software powered by artificial intelligence.
Health, Data, and Autonomous Transit
Vodafone also finished ten pilots across two more Test Beds and one national mobility agenda.
- Digital Health: Under the ITeCS initiative, Vodafone tested its Care Tracker Health tool with the Portuguese Many Sclerosis Society. Connected medical devices monitored patients remotely in real-time settings.
- Data Standards: The ED-X project validated secure data tools using European Gaia-X standards to improve software compatibility for Portuguese firms.
- Autonomous Transit: The ROUTE 25 agenda used Vodafone edge computing capacity and operational data to train autonomous driving algorithms.
The effort aims to bring new digital products to market faster and expand Portugal's tech infrastructure.
