Spanish tech consultancy Aitana-Opentix acquires 100% of Portuguese firm Critério Virtual

Spanish technology group Aitana-Opentix has completed its very first international acquisition by purchasing 100% of the Portuguese technology consultancy Critério Virtual.

Headquartered in Ílhavo (Aveiro) with more branch in Guimarães, Critério Virtual was founded by Pedro Silva, Rui Viegas, and Vítor Santos, who will continue to lead and manage the company through its next phase of growth.

As expanding technology companies scale their regional footprints, remote tech professionals often seek local coworking spaces to collaborate during multi-market transitions.

First international acquisition and cross-border expansion for Aitana-Opentix

Resulting from the merger of Aitana and Opentix roughly nine years ago, the Spanish group employs over 500 professionals across a dozen specialized tech companies.

Following the acquisition of Basque firm Lanmedia earlier in the year, this move marks Aitana-Opentix's official entry into the Portuguese market as part of a broader European growth strategy.

Strategic cross-border investments and European market consolidations frequently create new corporate jobs across newly acquired regional branches.

Expanding Sage and Microsoft business management software solutions in Portugal

As a Platinum Partner of Sage and a Gold Partner of Microsoft, Aitana-Opentix plans to integrate Critério Virtual's local team while preserving its established brand name during the initial transition period.

The group aims to scale operations across Portugal, introduce new business lines, and establish a physical presence in Lisbon.

Leading enterprise software firms and digital consultancies continue to expand their regional footprints to meet growing corporate demand for unified management solutions.
