British space infrastructure company Open Cosmos has raised €300 million to scale production and expand its operations. With four factories—including a manufacturing hub in Coimbra, Portugal—the company now produces up to one satellite per day.
Scaling the OpenConstellation network
Backed by major European investors and Portuguese firms like Iberis Capital and Shilling VC, the funding will fuel the next-generation OpenConstellation network. This initiative aims to slash Earth observation data delivery times from 48 hours down to just 30 minutes.
Strengthening regional growth
Portuguese Space Agency president Ricardo Conde notes that Open Cosmos solidifies Portugal's role as a key hub in the European space sector. The company's rapid expansion is driving high-tech industry events and generating valuable market news.
