New Supplier at Autoeuropa Offers Jobs to Some Vanpro Workers

Brose Sitech, chosen to produce seats for Autoeuropa’s new hybrid T-Roc, has offered 125 job openings to Vanpro employees—out of the 475 facing layoffs as Vanpro ends its contract by year-end. These 125 positions will open in November, but competition will decide who gets hired.

Vanpro’s Workers’ Committee, led by Sónia Almeida, says talks are ongoing with other suppliers and Autoeuropa to find more jobs for the rest of the workforce. So far, only Brose Sitech has committed to hiring a chunk of Vanpro’s staff.

Vanpro, which relied solely on Autoeuropa, will close by the end of the year, triggering a collective dismissal. An agreement ensures workers will receive 1.2 months’ salary per year worked—well above the legal minimum—and a bonus of at least €1,800, with talks to increase it.

There’s hope that new electric vehicle production starting in 2027 at Volkswagen Palmela might bring more opportunities for displaced workers.
