Space traffic management startup Neuraspace is negotiating with the Portuguese Air Force to install a radar system at a military air base. Funding from Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) backs the initiative to enhance satellite tracking capabilities in orbit.
Sensor Expansion and Military Collaboration
The company is evaluating suitable air base locations, with a focus on potential placement in the Azores. The planned installation builds on an existing partnership at Beja Air Base, where Neuraspace before deployed an optical telescope under a Memorandum of Understanding.
The proposed Neuraspace military radar deployment will integrate with existing optical, GNSS, and partner data streams. This multi-source sensor strategy supports the Neuraspace Air Force radar integration model. While scaling its defense software and hardware capabilities, Neuraspace continues to serve commercial satellite operators.
