MFE Appoints CFO Marco Giordani as CEO of Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1

Italy’s MFE – MediaForEurope has appointed its long-time CFO, Marco Giordani, as CEO of ProSiebenSat.1, Germany’s second-largest private television group. He succeeds Bert Habets, who will remain until the end of the year. The decision follows MFE’s recent acquisition of a 75.61% majority stake in the broadcaster, giving the Berlusconi family group control and significant influence in the German media market.

According to Maria Kyriacou, Chair of ProSiebenSat.1’s Supervisory Board, the appointment reinforces the company’s goal of accelerating its transformation with a focus on excellence and leadership in entertainment. Giordani brings over two decades of operational, financial, and strategic experience, having served as MFE’s CFO since 2000.

MFE stated it will review governance adjustments to ensure independence and continuity for both companies. The takeover - closely monitored by the German government due to concerns about editorial independence - was completed in September, valuing ProSiebenSat.1 at over €1.8 billion. MFE began investing in the German broadcaster in 2019 and now strengthens its position across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, significantly expanding its audience and advertising reach.
