Alagoas and Portugal Boost Cooperation in Science, Tech and Innovation

Alagoas is working to broaden its higher education and innovation scene internationally through a trip to Portugal.

On Tuesday (10), the state team met with the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the National Innovation Agency (ANI) in Lisbon. They shored up partnerships for science exchange, research money, and student swaps.

Focus on Research Money and Movement

The morning meeting at FCT, in Taguspark – City of Knowledge, looked at how Portugal funds science.

The group checked out:

- Scholarship plans

- Ways to fund research

- Global science movement systems

The aim is simple: to get students and teachers from Alagoas more involved in global research.

Innovation and Tech Transfer

In the afternoon, talks at ANI centered on boosting teamwork between schools and businesses, with a focus on:

- Tech transfer setups

- Innovation partnerships

- Real-world research that matters

This fits with Alagoas’ plan to link schools with industry and speed up tech growth.

A Joined-Up Plan

The Academic-Scientific Mission goes until February 13, showing Alagoas' rising role in global higher education and innovation work.

Júlio Cezar, Secretary of Federal and International Relations, said that having groups like Serfi, Secti, Uneal, Uncisal, Fapeal, Ifal, and Ufal there shows a united drive for growth.

He said that having university heads involved helps sync government and science leaders, setting the stage for deals soon.

Basically, this is a planned move to tie Alagoas tighter into the global science and innovation world, not just a visit.
