Location: On-site in Caldas da Rainha

Experience: 4+ Years

You will work in the "digital" heart of the AR5, collaborating directly with our Systems Architects and the Airworthiness team to ensure that each data packet reaches its destination safely, whether we are 2 or 200 miles from the coast.

What you will do (Product Focus)

• System Design: Define and manage electrical, control, and communication systems.
• Network and Protocol Optimization: Implement and optimize communications based on MAVLink, DroneCAN, IP networks, and serial communications (RS232/422/485). Evaluate, propose, and document improvement points in architecture, performance, and integration in the UAS.
• High-Level Design: Work with multidisciplinary teams for interface alignment and conflict resolution. Contribute to the definition and assessment of technical requirements, ensuring traceability and consistency across subsystems.
• Certification and Safety: Collaborate with the airworthiness team to ensure that software and hardware meet rigorous flight safety requirements.
• Hardware-Software Bridge: Act as the liaison between software development and physical integration, ensuring that onboard computing makes the most of the AR5 sensors.
• Technical Documentation: Create technical documentation, such as system architecture diagrams.

What we are looking for

• Background: Strong training in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems or equivalent field.
• Experience: 4+ years in complex systems engineering, preferably in robotics, aerospace, or critical systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with communication protocols (IP, CAN, Serial) and familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded Linux.
• Systemic Thinking: Ability to foresee how a change in a communication protocol affects the entire aircraft ecosystem.
• Language: Fluent English (essential for international technical collaboration).

Differentiating Factor (Nice to Have)

• Direct experience with UAS.
• Knowledge of software and aerospace systems development standards: DO-178C, ARP4754 or equivalents.
• Experience in C/C++ or Python development for embedded systems.
