Senior Middleware Operations Engineer – IBM MQ & High Availability
Lisbon-based opportunity with hybrid work model.
As a Senior Middleware Operations Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading organization in the messaging and middleware field committed to ensuring operational excellence and system stability. You will play a critical role in supporting IBM MQ environments, optimizing high availability strategies, and driving resilient messaging infrastructure in a dynamic environment.
Your main responsibilities:
- Manage and support IBM MQ in critical production environments, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot queue manager issues, channels, and operational alerts with autonomy and precision.
- Execute firmware upgrades, platform maintenance, and participate in data center migrations.
- Support the deployment and configuration of AMS, MQIPT, and mq.ini operational handling.
- Contribute to the execution of HADR strategies, including failover readiness and disaster recovery practices.
- Monitor, analyze, and resolve incidents to ensure service continuity and mitigate operational risks.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, network, and application teams to support seamless operations.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- 4+ years of experience in middleware operations, messaging platform support, or production support.
- Proven hands-on experience with IBM MQ, especially in high-availability environments.
- Strong knowledge of MQ Appliance, queue manager administration, and failover strategies.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix basics, network connectivity, certificates, and log analysis.
- Experience with incident management, operational standards, and supporting infrastructure lifecycle activities.
- Ability to work independently on complex production issues in a critical environment.
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Knowledge of MQ architecture, AMS configuration, and operational governance.
- Experience with incident, change management, and support in financial environments.
- Proficiency in French (desired).
Language Required for the role:
- Fluent in English.
