IT House is recruiting a FinOps Engineer for a client in the insurance sector, based in Lisbon.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement FinOps strategies, policies, and best practices to control and optimize cloud spending across multiple platforms;
  • Bridge finance, engineering, and operations by promoting cloud cost management, budgeting, and forecasting best practices;
  • Support product teams on product management and finance processes, including budget/forecast and cost optimization target setting;
  • Identify and evaluate cost optimization opportunities, providing recommendations and implementation support;
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud costs and usage, ensuring cost visibility and transparency across product lines;
  • Deliver regular reports and insights on cloud spend, trends, and anomalies to stakeholders;
  • Implement tools and automation for cost tracking, reporting, and optimization;
  • Challenge application teams on infrastructure choices, balancing cost optimization with quality of service;
  • Monitor cloud pricing trends, new platform capabilities, and FinOps best practices to inform decision-making.

PROFILE

  • 6+ years of experience in cloud operations and IT;
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or related field;
  • Certification from AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or FinOps Foundation;
  • Deep expertise in FinOps, cloud cost management, and financial analysis;
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud (billing models, architecture);
  • Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience managing stakeholders and presenting to senior leadership;
  • Knowledge of financial management principles applied to cloud cost governance;
  • Fluent English (mandatory);
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
